Today we’re excited to share something we’ve been working on for a while.

Some of you may have followed us on Product Hunt, some of you may have seen the sneak peek we posted last week, and some of you may have just randomly ended up on our blog.

Regardless of why you’re here, we’re stoked to have you.

Now, let’s see what the fuss is all about – let’s talk about Playground.

What’s Playground?

Playground is the easiest way to test your analytics events for iOS. Playground makes sure that all your event tracking runs smoothly and events are triggered as they should.

And best of all? It’s free.

Features and other need-to-knows

Playground comes with a range of useful features, all built to make your analytics testing as seamless as possible.

  • Inspect the payload of your tracking events
  • Inspect your backend API calls
  • Monitor all network traffic
  • Play with your app in real-time
  • Take high-res screenshots
  • Share your session with your teammate

How does it work?

Using Playground is easy. It doesn’t require any installation or technical setup. Anyone can get started as long as they have access to the latest iOS simulator build.

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Grab the latest iOS simulator build.
  2. Drag and drop it into Playground.
  3. See your app in real-time in your browser.
  4. Inspect your analytics and event tracking.
  5. Share testing session with your team members.

Who is it for?

We built Playground specifically for non-technical people. Because there are plenty of non-technical stakeholders involved in the testing process. That could mean product people, data scientists, marketing, the list goes on. If that’s you, well, then Playground is for you.

Supported analytics providers

Playground supports all major analytics tools and providers. Here’s the list:

  • Amplitude
  • Firebase/Google Analytics
  • Flurry
  • Heap
  • Keen
  • Localytics
  • Mixpanel
  • mParticle
  • Segment

Don’t see your analytics provider? We’re planning on adding more. In the meantime, send an email to [email protected].

Is your app ready for inspection?

Is your app ready to make its way to the App Store? If so, now’s the time to run it through Playground to do your final check.

Why did we build Playground?

When you talk about mobile QA and testing, it can get very technical very fast. But there are plenty of non-technical stakeholders involved in the process. They need just the same amount of reassurance and degree of confidence as the technical bunch. In particular, they need to know that all the analytics and event tracking have been set up correctly.

For those people, we built Playground.

Help us spread the word

If you’re as excited about Playground as we are, or perhaps know someone that could use an easy way of inspecting their analytics and event tracking, we’d love for you to help us spread the word.

Give us feedback on Product Hunt

and/or choose your preferred platform below to share the news.

Yes, launch day is here, but the hard work isn’t over. We’re going to keep working on Playground to make it even better by adding features, more providers and of course, make sure speed and stability are always up to par.

Thanks for sharing today with us. We’d also love to hear your thoughts and feedback in the comments below if you have a minute to spare.
